The government of Odisha has launched an initiative to control pollution in the state. It has launched a star rating initiative which will rate each company in the scale of 1 to 5. The data collected on pollution control measures by the company will be distilled and will be provided a ranking on the scale. The same will also be displayed on the website. Any neighourhood will come to know of the rating of any industry in their locality.
The initiative is a joint effort of State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) and Energy Policy Institute of the University of Chicago, the project is an example of the state’s 3T framework – Teamwork, Transparency and Technology.
