Vikram Pvt Ltd is planning to expand its sponge iron plant in Badtumkela in Sundergarh district of Odisha. The project involves setting up of 2 x 100 tpd DRI plant, 8,50,000 tpa beneficiation plant, 6,00,000 tpa pelletization plant, a 10 MW captive power plant and a 120,000 tpa of steel melt shop and 100,000 tpa rolling mill. Total land required for the project is around 41.27 ha which had been acquired. The required iron ore is to be sourced from Iron Ore Mines of Koida & Barbil. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 620 million.
